Appalaches: Two Drills on the Dufferin Gold Mine Site in Nova Scotia

RIMOUSKI, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - Dec. 11, 2008) - Ressources Appalaches (TSX VENTURE:APP) is mobilizing a second drill to the Dufferin Gold Mine site in Nova Scotia. Appalaches is currently conducting a major 3,000-metre drilling campaign as part of its due diligence for the gold mine's purchase. The objective of the work is to confirm the presence of 13 stacked veins extending to a depth of 400 metres, and to define the extensions of the first three veins over a length of more than 900 metres. The Company will then be in a position to determine whether the project contains a gold resource sufficient to justify reopening the mine.

The mineralization at the Dufferin Mine consists of gold-bearing quartz veins of stratiform "Saddle Vein" type, folded en echelon and enclosed in sedimentary rocks. Thirteen veins were identified by earlier drilling over a distance of 900 metres, down to a depth of 400 metres. A total of 58 surface holes were drilled at the mine by the previous operators; they intersected quartz veins with high gold values, ranging from one to ten metres in thickness.

In spite of the presence of significant gold mineralization that persists from one vein to the next, defining the distribution of the gold within the veins by surface investigations would be a costly matter. Accordingly, following this program of surface drilling an underground exploration program has been scheduled for early 2009, to include drilling and in situ sampling of the gold-bearing veins.

Corporate Goal

The Company's exploration objective is to outline a deposit containing between 1,250,000 and 1,750,000 tonnes at 7-10 g/t Au. This objective is based on an extrapolation of the historical resources in the first two veins to all 13 veins over a length of 900 metres, as indicated by the earlier work. Although this objective is based on 58 previous holes, it is uncertain whether it will be reached. There has not been enough exploration work to define the mineral resources in accordance with current standards. The work now in progress should advance the Company towards its objective.
