Apparent Networks Joins Nortel Developers Program

Initiative Aimed at Complementing Nortel Products With the Company's AppCritical™ Solution Broadens Availability of AppCritical's Unique, Real-Time Network Monitoring Capabilities

WELLESLEY HILLS, MA--(Marketwire - January 31, 2008) - Apparent Networks, Inc. today announced that it has entered the Nortel Developers Program. Under this program, Apparent will work collaboratively with Nortel to integrate the powerful, real-time network monitoring capabilities of Apparent's AppCritical software with solutions built on Nortel communications platforms. This initiative enables Apparent to tap an expanding range of interfaces, information and technical support services from Nortel. The goal is accelerated development and delivery to mutual customers of new solutions for converged networks and business connectivity services.

"Our strategic partner goals, corporate vision and product development direction are well aligned with Nortel's," said Keith Bartlett, Vice President of Business Development for Apparent Networks. "The benefits from partnerships like this translate into real value for customers. Nortel gains a competitive edge through enhanced capabilities of their existing solutions and faster delivery of new, integrated products on their communications platforms. Through this collaborative innovation, we'll help our mutual customers to proactively resolve network questions and quickly move forward deployments of VoIP, IP videoconferencing and other new networked- and Web-enabled applications."

"We continually see customers that are intrigued by all the new services and functionality promised by Web applications like VoIP. But many of them are holding back because they have concerns about the impact these applications will have on their networks," said Greg Bertschmann, President of Boston Wireless Business Communication Systems. "The AppCritical product resolves their questions, eliminates their concerns, and enables them to move ahead confidently with their deployments. As a Nortel Premium Advantage Partner, we can provide our customers with AppCritical as a premium offering -- a distinctive, high-value solution that integrates well with their Nortel platforms."

By becoming a member of the Nortel Developers Program, Apparent Networks gains access to a framework and tool set designed to foster innovation. The program's components include extensive informational resources, development support services, joint marketing and promotional activities, and access to a large and active development community. In addition, Apparent's technologists will take advantage of special Developer Support services, interface toolkits and APIs, technical specifications and the Developer Program website. All aspects of the program are designed to speed the development and delivery of new solutions and complement existing products in the marketplace.

Joining the Nortel Developer Program is part of Apparent Networks' larger strategic initiative to engage with a range of the industry's major software developers, platform providers and makers of networking gear. The goal of all of these relationships, several of which are near to being finalized, is to bring the power and benefits of Apparent's unique network views to more customers more quickly.
