Appleby College Remembers Alumnus Senator Norman Atkins '53

OAKVILLE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 5, 2010) - Members of the Appleby College community remember the extraordinary life of school alumnus Senator Norman Kempton Atkins, a long-time friend and supporter of the school, who passed away on September 28.

Senator Akins attended Appleby College from 1946 – 1952, however his involvement with Appleby continued for many years after. A generous host for a variety of Alumni luncheons in Ottawa, Senator Atkins took a great interest in the school, once inviting a group of students to attend a House of Commons session. His loss will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

"Senator Atkins was a proud Canadian and a highly respected leader who was committed to introducing change for the better," shared Guy McLean, Principal, Appleby College. "We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family for this great loss."
