Appointment to Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Feb. 19, 2008) - The Honourable Josée Verner, Minister of Canadian Heritage, Status of Women and Official Languages, today announced the appointment of Marc Patrone as a full-time member of the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC).

"I'm delighted to welcome Mr. Patrone to the CRTC," said Minister Verner. "During his career, he has been involved in numerous aspects of television news-gathering and production. His experience will greatly benefit the CRTC."

Mr. Patrone has been involved in the broadcasting industry for a number of years. His professional experience includes service as a producer-writer with the Atlantic Television System; a writer-broadcaster with Broadcast News/Canadian Press; a reporter, videographer and editor with the Global Television Network and the Atlantic Television System as well as a news anchor and sports reporter with Scarborough Television. Prior to his appointment to the CRTC, Mr. Patrone worked as a broadcast journalist and legislative and general assignment reporter with CTV Atlantic.

The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission is an independent public authority that regulates and supervises, in the public interest, all aspects of the Canadian broadcasting system, as well as telecommunications service providers and common carriers that fall under federal jurisdiction.
