Appointment to the Canadian Museum of Nature Board of Trustees


OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 6, 2011) - The Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced the appointment of Alice McCarron as a part-time member of the Canadian Museum of Nature Board of Trustees.

"I am pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. McCarron," said Minister Moore. "Her professional experience and fundraising skills will be tremendous assets to the Board."

Ms. McCarron holds an MBA from Saint Mary's University in Halifax. She is a businessperson who currently works as the Nova Scotia District Manager of Stericycle, a global medical waste management company. She joined the company in 2005 and is responsible for the operations, profitability, and growth of her district. Ms. McCarron also developed extensive experience as a fundraiser, having held the position of Campaign Research Manager (1997–1999) at St. Francis Xavier University, in Antigonish, Nova Scotia.

As an active member of her community, Ms. McCarron has served on the boards of a number of organizations and associations, including the Halifax Chamber of Commerce, the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, and the Home of the Guardian Angel.

The Canadian Museum of Nature is Canada's national museum of natural history and natural sciences.
