Appointment to the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 17, 2010) - Canada's Transport Minister John Baird today announced the appointment of Mr. Eugene Kwan of Vancouver, British Columbia, to the board of directors of the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority for a term of three years.

"I am very pleased that Mr. Kwan has agreed to serve on the board of the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority," said Baird. "The port authority will benefit from his extensive business experience."

Mr. Kwan holds a law degree from the University of British Columbia. He is currently the president and chief executive officer of Agincourt Capital Corporation and senior counsel to Stikeman Elliott LLP, an international business law firm based in Canada. Formerly a partner of Stikeman Elliott, Mr. Kwan was the managing director of the firm's Hong Kong office before joining the Hutchison Whampoa Group as a senior executive. Mr. Kwan brings extensive experience in investments, real estate and telecommunications to the port authority. An active community member, Mr. Kwan is president of the Fraser Valley Wineries Association and a director of the VGH & UBC Hospital Foundation.

The Vancouver Fraser Port Authority is the Canada Port Authority (CPA) established to manage the Port of Vancouver Fraser under the Canada Marine Act. Seventeen CPAs now make up Canada's national port system. The CPAs are non-share capital corporations incorporated under the Canada Marine Act and are of strategic significance to Canada's trade. Their effective operation contributes to Canada's global competitiveness as a trading nation.
