Appointments to the Canadian Museum of Civilization Board of Trustees

OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - March 6, 2009) - The Honourable James Moore, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, announced today the appointment of Duncan Dee, Ruth Ramsden-Wood and Ken Langille as members of the Board of Trustees of the Canadian Museum of Civilization.

"Mr. Dee's innovative management practices, Ms. Ramsden-Wood's skills in relationship-building and Mr. Langille's exceptional leadership capabilities will prove to be great assets to the Corporation as it seeks to fulfill its mandate," said Minister Moore.

Mr. Dee is a graduate of the University of British Columbia with a strong working background in marketing and communications. He worked as the Executive Vice President, Customer Experience and Chief Administrative Officer at Air Canada, responsible for all aspects of the customer airport experience throughout Air Canada's worldwide network. Prior to joining Air Canada, Mr. Dee also held senior positions in the Government of Canada.

In addition to his work experience at Air Canada, Mr. Dee has also served as Chairman of the Board for Air Canada Vacations, which was the recipient of the Consumers' Choice Award for Business Excellence in 2006. Mr. Dee also gained national recognition for his skills in leadership and innovation when he was awarded Canada's Top 40 under 40 award in 2004, which recognizes Canadian leaders of today and tomorrow.

Ms. Ramsden-Wood holds a Master's Degree of Arts from Columbia University, and has a Certification from the Institute of Corporate Directors and a Certificate of Professional Teaching from the University of British Columbia. Since 1997, Ms. Ramsden-Wood has worked as President of United Way of Calgary and area. During her career at United Way, she has been successful in streamlining the business processes and raising the bar on fundraising achievements for the organization. She is very involved in her community, serving on the Board of Governors of Mount Royal College, the Board of Directors of the Calgary Homeless Foundation, the Community Council of the Calgary Children's Initiative and served as past Director and Vice President of Special Events for Theatre Calgary.

Mr. Langille has demonstrated strong leadership in community-based services. He served on the New Glasgow Fire Department for 30 years. He also served on the New Glasgow Town Council as Deputy Mayor, Chair of the Police Commission and Fire Committee, Vice-Chair of New Glasgow Rink Commission and was a member of the Downtown Development Committee, Library Committee and Heritage. He is a founding member and past Chairman of Crime Stoppers, Crime Prevention, and the New Glasgow Youth Centre. Mr. Langille was also a member of the Pictou County Sports Hall of Fame Committee and served as past president of the Festival of Tartans Committee, responsible for planning local sport and entertainment events.
