Apprion Congratulates Chris Witte of BASF on Receiving Chemical Engineering's Plant Manager of the Year Award

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA--(Marketwire - Dec 12, 2012) -  Apprion, the leader of Industrial Wireless Application Systems and Services for the process manufacturing industry, announced that Chris Witte, Site Manager at BASF, Freeport, TX, is the winner of Chemical Engineering's Plant Manager of the Year Award which honors one outstanding plant manager who has demonstrated exceptional leadership in running his/her site. Apprion nominated Witte for the Chemical Engineering Award. Apprion and BASF Freeport have partnered on a number of industrial wireless projects in the recent past and Chris Witte has been instrumental in the success of the projects at the BASF Freeport facility. After working with Witte and his team the past few years, it became apparent that he was more than worthy to receive the nomination for the Plant Manager of the Year Award.

Chemical Engineering, the leading chemical publication, held their annual awards banquet recognizing innovations in process technology, safety, energy use and community services during the 2012 ChemInnovations Conference in New Orleans. The ceremony honored both individuals and companies whose achievements were rated as most significant from among a host of worthy nominees after two judging rounds. 

The Plant Manager of the Year award went to Chris Witte, head of the BASF SE (Ludwigshafen, Germany; www.basf.com) facility in Freeport, TX, for his proactive management approach and inspirational attitude. Chris has worked for BASF for over 25 years and 6 years in the role of Site Manager at the BASF, Freeport and Port Arthur, TX facilities. Chris continually improves operations with his vast industry experience, solid work ethic and his focus on operating Freeport at the highest quality possible. Chris often introduces new ideas for improving Freeport's operations and includes all teams and units in the process of change and improvements. Chris' humility, approachability and trustworthiness make him stand apart from other managers. He has gained the admiration of all those who work with him, the community and industry.
