Aptiv Digital, Inc. Deploys Multi-Room DVR With Blue Ridge Communications; The New Multi-Room DVR Application Enables Viewers to Watch Recorded Shows on a DVR Remotely From Any Room in the House

BURBANK, Calif.--(CCNMatthews - Jan 31, 2006) -

Aptiv Digital, Inc. today announced the deployment of Multi-Room DVR with Blue Ridge Communications. The new application operates with new versions of Passport™ (version 4.2) and Passport Echo™ (version 2.5) Interactive Program Guides (IPG), enabling Blue Ridge Communications to offer multi-room access of programming content that is stored on a central DVR set-top.

The implementation of new digital cable set-top technology transforms the cable wiring in a home into an RF network that allows for up to three basic digital set-tops (clients) in a home to access a central DVR set-top (server). Passport, an IPG for basic digital cable set-tops, and Passport Echo, an IPG for DVR digital cable set-tops, have always been complementary applications as they are similar in appearance and functionality, and are typically deployed together into digital cable homes with multiple set-tops. Now with the new Multi-Room DVR application, the two IPGs can operate directly together to offer customers the ability to view their stored programming anywhere within the cable home network.

"We are very excited about the deployment of these new versions of Passport and Passport Echo with Multi-Room DVR technology with Blue Ridge Communications," remarked Neil Jones, President and CEO of Aptiv Digital. "Blue Ridge has been a progressive customer of ours for several years, and they have always embraced new technologies and new applications that we have introduced."

"Aptiv Digital has always been a market leader for advanced interactive applications," stated Mark Masenheimer, General Manager of Blue Ridge Communications. "It has been our pleasure over the past several years to work with Aptiv Digital and deploy new product features and upgrades for the Passport family of products, especially when those applications, such as Multi-Room DVR can make such a dramatic difference in improving video services for our customers."
