Aquatic Informatics Named a Top Canadian Employer Winner

Mediacorp Today Published the 2015 Winners of "Canada's Top Small & Medium Employers" Competition; Aquatic Informatics Employees Shared Why They Love Working for the Company

VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - March 10, 2015) - Aquatic Informatics Inc., a global leader in providing innovative software for water data management and analysis, announced today it was again named a winner in the second national competition held by Mediacorp Canada Inc. Small and medium employers were evaluated by the editors of Canada's Top 100 Employers using eight criteria: (1) physical workplace; (2) work atmosphere and social; (3) health, financial, and family benefits; (4) vacation and time off; (5) employee communications; (6) performance management; (7) training and skills development; and (8) community involvement.

"Aquatic Informatics has nearly doubled in size since Mediacorp first recognized us for offering one of the best workplaces in our industry. During this time of rapid growth, fostering our exceptional company culture has remained a top priority. We are thrilled to win this award for the second year in a row," shared Ed Quilty, President and CEO at Aquatic Informatics. "The reasons Aquatic Informatics is one of the best places to work are perhaps best described by our employees."

Originally a customer and AQUARIUS user, Dave Gilbey joined Aquatic Informatics in 2013 to pursue his passion by helping the water monitoring industry turn vast volumes of environmental data into insight. "I'm now working with a team that is passionate and dedicated to providing the best possible tools so water professionals can efficiently produce environmental data of a known quality, connect the data with the policy, and ultimately produce timely, accurate water information … so the world's waters are available in the right quantities and qualities to support future generations," shared Dave Gilbey. For the past year Dave has been a valuable member of the growing sales team at Aquatic Informatics.

Working in the clean technology industry and solving complex challenges is rewarding, but Aquatic Informatics employees also like to have fun and stay active. Over 100 staff and family members mingled at the annual "Summer Hawaiian BBQ" hosted at the CEO's home and the "Winter Holiday Party" held at the company's office, featuring a spectacular 360 degree view of beautiful Vancouver from central downtown. The large open-concept floor plan, fitness facilities, stocked fridge, large communal dining area, and monthly staff meetings make for a collegial atmosphere.

"Working at Aquatic Informatics is rewarding. As a developer, I am part of a collaborative team that interacts with customers to solve challenging problems. Together, we work hard to build quality software that contributes towards the sustainability of our planet," said Erin Lim, Software Developer.  "One of the best things about working here is how much the company cares about its employees. This is evident by the attention to detail put into creating a great work environment -- a spacious, modern office location that is easily accessible, smart and talented co-workers, healthy snacks, gym passes, family-friendly parties, and Friday happy hour. I am proud to be part of the Aquatic Informatics family."

"With every piece of work done as a software developer at Aquatic Informatics, I know I've contributed a bit to the better management of our most precious resource on Earth -- water. So meaningful!  Sometimes even critical. There are times when our products save lives -- not only human lives, but also animals, like fish," commented Bill Chen, Software Developer. "Developing green software is engaging. When I need a break after a long period of coding, I wander around our spacious office, or go to the kitchen, grab an organic pear, chat casually in front of the coffee machines with colleagues. Ding! Fully re-charged! Come and experience it for yourself. We're hiring."

Aquatic Informatics is one of the best companies to work for … and also one of the fastest growing clean technology companies in Canada. The company is actively recruiting for 10 open positions for brilliant software engineers, passionate sales executives, and seasoned business professionals.
