Arbella Insurance Group Named One of Boston Business Journal's 2012 "Best Places to Work" for Fourth Year in a Row

QUINCY, MA--(Marketwire - May 31, 2012) - The Arbella Insurance Group ("Arbella") today announced that it has been recognized as one of the Boston Business Journal's "Best Places to Work" for 2012, marking the fourth consecutive year in a row that Arbella has been honored in the large business category. The award program recognizes small, medium and large-sized companies with high levels of employee satisfaction and positive workplace cultures.

The Arbella Insurance Group, a mutual insurance company based in Quincy, Mass., employs 800 workers in the state and is affiliated with a network of approximately 500 independent insurance agents. Arbella prides itself on attracting the best employees in the area -- 70 percent of Arbella employees have been with the company for five or more years, and more than 34 percent for at least 15 years. The company is also known for its exceptional customer service and its commitment to giving back to the communities it serves.

"We are honored to once again receive recognition from the Boston Business Journal as one of the best places to work," said John Donohue, chairman, president and CEO of the Arbella Insurance Group and chairman and president of Arbella's Foundation. "The happiness and well-being of our employees is key to the success of Arbella as it translates into trust, loyalty and strong customer relationships. We are committed to creating a company culture that inspires and motivates employees and are thrilled to be recognized for our efforts in doing so."

Arbella is committed to fostering a caring and collaborative culture that extends beyond compensation and benefits. In addition to offering work-life balance options, learning and development opportunities and a variety of health-related benefits, Arbella fosters an environment of teamwork and giving back to the communities they serve.

Arbella employees take the company's mission of corporate citizenship to heart by volunteering, organizing and contributing to a variety of different causes. Whether they are organizing donation drives for victims of natural disasters, participating in fundraising events such as the Walk for Hunger or donating their time at local organizations serving families and children, Arbella employees are dedicated to supporting organizations that work hard on the behalf of others.

In June 2011, for example, several communities around Springfield, Massachusetts, were devastated by a series of tornados. In response, Arbella employees organized a donation drive for those affected by the tornado, while members of the company's claim departments organized a raffle which raised $15,500 for the local Red Cross.

Arbella employees also enjoy the stable environment of a financially strong organization that, even in a struggling economy, consistently produces excellent financial results. In fact, Arbella plans a five percent growth in employee headcount in 2012.

"Arbella recognizes that their employees are the foundation and the strength of the organization," said Kelly Adams, operations manager at Arbella. "Each individual is valued and respected for their contribution and supported through recognition and continuous investment in professional growth. Feeling good about what you do every day is motivating not only to yourself, but to others. I believe this is the key to our continued success and ability to offer stellar customer service."

Each year, the Boston Business Journal's "Best Places to Work" program recognizes 75 small-, medium- and large-size businesses whose benefits and unique initiatives put them ahead on the employee satisfaction curve. To select the winners, employees from more than 300 Massachusetts-based companies participate in an anonymous survey that asks about company benefits, atmosphere, values and loyalty. The results are analyzed by a third-party research firm, and the winners are broken down into three categories based on size.

The "Best Places to Work" rankings will be released at a June 1st breakfast ceremony at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center.
