Archadeck of Austin Receives Archadeck Outdoor Living's Design Excellence Award in the Deck Project Category

Archadeck of Austin was awarded the Archadeck Outdoor Living Design Excellence Award for Decks

RICHMOND, VA--(Marketwired - May 09, 2017) - Jim Odom, owner of the Archadeck of Austin location in Austin, Texas, and his team were awarded Archadeck Outdoor Living's Design Excellence award in the deck category. The contest recognizes design excellence in several project categories among its franchise locations. As North America's largest custom designer and builder of outdoor structures and spaces, Archadeck Outdoor Living has grown to a franchise network of over 50 locations across the United States and Canada.

Awarded quarterly, the Archadeck Design Excellence Award is awarded in different project categories including decking projects, hardscape or patio projects, and porch and room projects. The winners of those categories are then entered to win the Design Excellence Award Grand Prize, which is determined by a collective vote by the Archadeck franchisee network.

"The client had a well lived deck that was past due for replacement and they wanted a non-conventional pergola design," said Jim Odom, owner of the Archadeck of Austin location. "There were several design challenges, but through numerous rounds of planning and considerable thought into the client's desired budget and project needs, we successfully achieved the client's desired deck and pergola design. Having our relentless efforts and ultimate success recognized through this award means a lot to me and the team."

Mr. Odom's award winning project is an Autumn Chestnut cellular PVC deck with stone skirting and stone column bases. The exquisite deck features an outdoor kitchen with a 12 ft counter top and a built-in propane grill, under an oversized freestanding pergola. Flush mount low voltage lights with timers were incorporated into the outdoor structure for added safety.

"One of the project's complications came from the stone skirt," explained Mr. Odom. "The client had previous issues with animals nesting under the old deck which we took into consideration before building. The stone skirt and concrete footings were used to prevent future issues, but it meant the stone had to be ground flat and that the kitchen, the stone column bases, and the electric wiring needed to be completed prior to decking. Staging of construction was quite interesting, but we appreciated the challenge."

"We are proud to present this award to Jim Odom and his team at Archadeck of Austin," stated Mike Reeder, VP of the Archadeck Outdoor Living Brand. "Their planning, communication, and level of dedication and commitment to meet the client's desired needs and budget is a great example of why we are the expert leading deck and outdoor space builder."

The winning project will be featured in the Archadeck Design Excellence Award photo gallery, which can be found on the company's website at Archadeck.com.
