Architectural Record Presents the Second Annual Forum and Awards Program Recognizing Women's Design Leadership

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Sep 9, 2015) - The second annual Women in Architecture Forum & Awards program recognizes the design leadership of American women architects, to celebrate the increasingly visible role of women in the profession, and to encourage firms to promote women and their work. The awards will be presented at a luncheon in New York City at the Time & Life Building on Tuesday, October 6th and will be preceded by a morning panel on the status of women in large firms.

The awards are given in five categories. This year's winners are:

Design Leader: Honoring an architect with significant built work and influence
Winner: Billie Tsien, founding partner of Tod Williams Billie Tsien, New York. Her practice is known for major institutional and cultural projects, such as the Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia.

New Generation Leader: Honoring an architect who is rising in the profession
Winner: Meejin Yoon, principal and co-founder, Howeler + Yoon Architecture, Boston, and head of the department of architecture at M.I.T. Yoon's work explores material and experience in architecture, at a variety of scales, most recently completing the Sean Collier Memorial at M.I.T.

Innovator: Honoring an architect who has made a mark in innovative design and building technology
Winner: Anna Dyson, professor of design, technology and theory at the School of Architecture at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and founding director of the Center for Architecture, Science and Ecology (CASE).
