ArcSight Promotes Tom Reilly to CEO

Robert Shaw to Maintain Chairman Role

CUPERTINO, CA--(Marketwire - September 9, 2008) - ArcSight, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARST), a leading global provider of compliance and security management solutions that protect enterprises and government agencies, today announced Tom Reilly will become chief executive officer of ArcSight, effective October 1, 2008.

Reilly will replace Robert Shaw, ArcSight chairman and chief executive officer since August 2001. Shaw will remain chairman of the board of directors.

"Tom has played an integral role in making ArcSight the success that it is today, and I look forward to working with him in this new capacity," commented Shaw. "One of the primary criteria we had when searching for a chief operating officer two years ago was whether the candidate could successfully lead ArcSight once I decided to step down, and I am even more confident today that Tom is the correct candidate."

"This is a terrific opportunity to help guide a market-leading company to even greater success," said Reilly. "I look forward to continuing to execute against our strategy of becoming a mission-critical platform in every company's IT architecture. Our focus on scalability, interoperability, and multiple use cases from perimeter security to insider threat, fraud, and compliance monitoring remains key to our strategic direction."

Reilly has served as ArcSight chief operating officer since November 2006, as president since August 2007 and as a member of the board of directors since June 2008. Prior to joining ArcSight, Reilly was vice president of business information services for IBM.
