Are You the Next Miss World Canada?

MISS WORLD CANADA casting takes place in downtown Toronto this Saturday

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 1, 2006) -

Could a Toronto area woman take home the most prestigious beauty crown in Canada? All media are invited to see where the excitement starts, as the local Greater Toronto Area casting call for the 2007 Miss World Canada Contest takes place this Saturday, December 2, 2006.

The casting will take place at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel at 100 Front Street West. From 10:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M., young women aged 17-24 who are interested in taking part in the most dynamic contest in Canada can report to the Fairmont Royal York to meet with the distinguished panel of judges.

Up to ten women from the Greater Toronto Area will win the right to compete as the local representatives at the 2007 Miss World Canada Contest, to be held in Toronto in March.

Miss World Canada 2007 will receive nationwide media exposure, thousands of dollars in prizes, including an all-expenses paid trip to the Miss World contest (the 2006 event was in Poland), and the opportunity to travel the country to act as an ambassador for various charitable causes, including as National Spokesperson for the Rock Solid Foundation, a nationwide anti-bullying coalition. She will also represent Canada at the largest pageant of its kind, Miss World, which last year had 103 contestants from across the globe; this year, upwards of 120 winners from around the globe are expected.

Canada has placed in the semi-finals of the international Miss World Contest three times in the last four years, giving our nation one of the planet's best "Miss World track records".

All media are welcome to attend. Applicants and contest staff will be available for interviews in English, French, Spanish and/or Portuguese.
