Arena Wraps Up 2010 With 110% Increase in Net New Subscriptions

Strong Fourth Quarter Increases in New Customers, Subscription Sales and Adoption Close Out a Year of Solid Growth

FOSTER CITY, CA--(Marketwire - February 4, 2011) -  Arena Solutions, a provider of on-demand bill of materials (BOM) and change management software for small and mid-size manufacturers, today announced an increase in net new subscription sales of 110% for the year ending December 31, 2010, compared to the same period one year earlier. Helping drive that growth were increases in the number of new customers -- up nearly 45% for the fourth quarter and the year -- and expansion among existing customers, with customers signed the previous year nearly doubling their Arena subscriptions in 2010. This rate of first-year expansion was 77% greater than the rate for 2009 and demonstrated the ease and speed with which new customers can adopt Arena and extend its value by having more members of their teams use the system.

Fourth-quarter sales continued to be strong among companies in many of the same industries that have traditionally found Arena bill of materials (BOM) and change management software to be valuable for centralizing their product data, capturing complete, accurate and up-to-date BOMs and making sure all employees, partners and suppliers have access to the latest information anytime, from anywhere in the world. With its robust functionality for controlling revisions and managing the engineering change order (ECO) process, Arena is a good fit both for companies focusing on the new product development (NPD) process for the first time and for those updating, evolving and expanding existing product offerings.

The established manufacturers that picked Arena during the fourth quarter did so because they needed something better than Excel spreadsheets to control the BOMs, specs, drawings, costs and other information that define the many products, configurations, accessories and product lines they already offer. Like the start-ups and young companies that chose Arena, they couldn't afford an interruption to their ongoing product design and manufacturing processes and needed a system they could start using -- and benefiting from -- quickly, easily and affordably.

"As 2010 progressed we heard more and more manufacturers telling us they needed Arena to help them capitalize on opportunities for growth," said Craig Livingston, chief executive officer of Arena Solutions. "We took a similar approach with our 2010 investments, spending time and money thoughtfully in areas that would contribute to our own growth. Accelerated investment in the product, the team, partnerships, deployment tools, storage capacity and more resulted in a great 2010. It's also helped lay the groundwork for the even stronger growth we anticipate in the year to come. We'll be staffing up dramatically, with plans to expand the company by more than 25%, and continuing to build out our software, infrastructure and partner community. I look forward to being able to reflect back at this time next year and share exciting results from 2011."

Among the manufacturers in the high-tech electronics, clean technology, medical device, consumer product and other industries that chose Arena in Q4 2010 are:

  • Artificial Muscle Inc., which designs and manufactures actuator and sensing components based on the Electroactive Polymer Artificial Muscle (EPAM) technology platform and used in industrial, medical, consumer, automotive and aerospace applications.
  • ChargeStorm AB, which develops electric vehicle (EV) charging and management solutions for enterprises that provide EV parking spaces.
  • EcoPower Design, which is focused on providing innovative and reliable powerdrive solutions to the solar-power and renewable energy industries.
  • Nukotoys, creator of video games and connected toys that magically link virtual and real-world adventure.
  • Sonos, Inc., a leading developer of wireless multi-room music systems for the home. The Sonos Multi-Room Music System is the first wireless multi-room music system that lets you play all the music you want all over your house -- and control it all from the palm of your hand.

Also in Q4 2010, Arena surpassed its 99.5% service level agreement for the 19th consecutive quarter, with 100% scheduled uptime in Q4 2010 -- and 99.99% uptime for all of 2010 -- and a continued focus on delivering the most secure and reliable collaborative BOM and change management solution available.
