Arizona State University Researchers Release a National Review of Evans Newton Incorporated's Signature TargetTeach® Program

ENI School Transformation Model Makes Significant Difference in Low Performing Schools

PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwire - May 23, 2011) - An independent research study released today by Kimberly A. Scott, Ed.D., and members of an ASU research team, reveals that schools who implemented ENI's whole school transformation model, TargetTeach®, saw significant increases in student achievement. The study used a meta-analytic approach whereby data from numerous studies were pooled to study group effects.

When asked about outcomes of the study, Dr. Scott commented, "This study shows that student achievement after TargetTeach® implementation is associated with a statistically significant increase in passing scores for students on their state standardized test in mathematics and reading. This indicates that, aside from district-level variables associated with implementation, student demographics, or teacher characteristics, the TargetTeach® tools made a difference in increasing student achievement."

Results for mathematics showed that the percentage of students who achieved proficient or above grew from 53.6% to 73.6% proficient. The percentage of students who scored proficient or above in reading jumped from 50.4% to 70.4%.

After reviewing the most recent meta-analysis, ENI CEO Jamie Piotti said, "We are thrilled with the conclusions of the meta-analysis. ENI has been helping schools improve their performance for nearly 40 years. This study adds to a rich history of data that supports the TargetTeach® process and its effectiveness in elementary, middle, and high schools."

The meta-analysis examined the effect of TargetTeach® from a random sample of nine districts. Participants of the study were randomly selected from students in 3rd grade through high school.
