Armstrong MaxxLock™ Hammers and Sledges: Maximum Impact. Locked In.

Heads on New MaxxLock™ Hammers and Sledges Feature Over Five Tons of Pull-Off Resistance

SPARKS, MD--(Marketwired - Jun 28, 2016) - Armstrong Industrial Hand Tools today announced that its new MaxxLock™ hammers and sledges are available for purchase at select MRO and construction products distributors and industrial supply houses nationwide. With composite-wrapped fiberglass core handles that reduce weight while improving performance, safety and durability, the product line is a perfect addition to the industry-leading Armstrong portfolio.

The MaxxLock™ product line ranges from 14-inch, 24 oz. ball-pein hammers to 32-inch, 12 lb. sledge hammers, each featuring newly designed fiberglass core handles that significantly outperform steel rod handles. The fiberglass tests beyond 5,000 overstrikes without bending and weighs significantly less than comparable steel rod products. For example, the MaxxLock 8 lb. sledge weighs 22 percent less than a comparable steel-rod handled sledge.

"The lightweight MaxxLock™ line improves both safety and performance, which is a benefit to just about any industrial use and particularly helpful to those working at height," said Marisa Stephenson, product manager, Shaping, Fastening, and Striking Construction Tools. "Additional improvements from head to handle also ensure increased durability."

With slip-resistant reverse-ribbed grips that boost safety, the fiberglass core handles and composite outer wraps outperform hickory handles while providing double protection from overstrike damage. A combination of mechanical locking components and epoxy secures every MaxxLock head to its handle with more than 10,000 pounds of pull-off resistance to aid durability and safety, and all MaxxLock™ tools are tether-ready, with copper-reinforced lanyard attachment points for working at height.

An optional 24-inch handle on the MaxxLock™ 8 lb. sledge improves control and is compliant with tools-at-height best practices.
