Army and Air Force Exchange Service, Enterprise Rent-A-Car Bring Car Sharing to U.S. Military Bases

WeCar by Enterprise Provides U.S. Military Bases With Cost-Effective, Convenient, Sustainable Transportation Alternative

ST. LOUIS, MO--(Marketwire - Nov 10, 2011) - Enterprise Rent-A-Car and the Army Air Force Exchange Service (Exchange) are bringing car sharing to Fort Carson Army Base in Colorado and Fort Bragg Army Base in North Carolina through WeCar by Enterprise, with plans to expand the car-sharing program to additional military bases throughout the United States. WeCar offers an efficient, cost-effective and sustainable transportation solution for military personnel and their families.

WeCar vehicles are conveniently located on-base and provide automated, around-the-clock access to hourly, daily and overnight car rentals for active military personnel and spouses (18 and older) who enroll as members. The program provides a sustainable transportation alternative that gives members the benefits of a personal car while paying only when they use the vehicle.

"Enterprise Rent-A-Car's WeCar program provides transportation solutions to military bases throughout the United States to support military personnel and their families," said Ryan Johnson, assistant vice president, WeCar and Rideshare for Enterprise. "Our goal is to provide an alternative to ease the transportation burden on military bases, where convenient transportation may be needed for duty-related activities and other errands."

Partnering with the Exchange continues Enterprise's longstanding relationship with the U.S. military. Enterprise was founded by Navy veteran Jack Taylor, who named the company after the USS Enterprise, the ship on which he served as a pilot during World War II. Additionally, the company is represented on the Missouri Employer Support for the Guard and Reserves (ESGR) Advisory Council and has been recognized with the prestigious Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, the highest honor given by the U.S. Government to employers for their support of employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve.

WeCar programs are supported by the extensive Enterprise Rent-A-Car neighborhood network of more than 5,500 rental offices located within 15 miles of 90 percent of the U.S. population. WeCar is a natural extension of the local car rental service Enterprise pioneered and continues to provide. In fact, well before it launched its car-sharing program, Enterprise rented to drivers in large urban centers who needed a vehicle for an hour, a day or a week.

WeCar members reserve a vehicle online, then access the vehicle using a membership card and return it to the same location. Fuel and basic vehicle physical damage and state required liability protection are included in the standard rate plan.

Fort Carson Army Base in Colorado and Fort Bragg Army Base in North Carolina are the first of several military bases to announce WeCar programs. Enterprise is bringing WeCar to additional military bases in 2011, including Schofield Barracks Army Base, Hickam Air Force Base and Kaneohe Bay Marine Base in Hawaii, and Joint Base Lewis-McChord Army Base in Washington.
