Art and Innovation Come Alive for Toronto Subway Commuters

CONTACT and ONESTOP Media Group Announce New Public Digital Venue with Community Generated Content

Attention: Arts/Entertainment Editor, City Editor, Media Editor, Tech/Telecomm Editor, Transportation Editor TORONTO, ONTARIO, PRESS RELEASE--(CCNMatthews - April 16, 2007) - CONTACT, Toronto's premier annual photography festival, has partnered with Out-of-Home Digital Network operator ONESTOP Media Group to create its first public digital venue on the Toronto Transit Commission subway platforms.

From April 15th - May 25th, ONESTOP and CONTACT are requesting photographers to submit online ( a series of 5-10 photos related to the venue theme: "Transit Stories". Sharon Switzer, the venue curator, will select photographs to be featured on the platform screens and website each day throughout the month of May. Switzer says, "The Onestop TTC venue is unique to CONTACT because it's a dynamic digital experience, which distinguishes it from the more traditional photographic venues around the GTA. Our program (Transit Stories) is distinctive because it offers community participation on a large, public scale. We are excited to present Torontonians with artwork that both reflects and enhances their commuter experience."

"The partnership between ONESTOP and CONTACT is a natural evolution of the festival's high-profile series of Public Installations, where we show images in unexpected places; on billboards. transit shelters, building facades and so on. It's a program where we can engage the public outside of the museum context - so we are thrilled to extend our programming in this way."Emily McInnes, Director of Creative Development - CONTACT

Sixty to ninety community-generated Transit Stories will air on ONESTOP's TTC screens during CONTACT's Photography Festival. Transit Stories can be seen 6 times per hour and feature 2 or 3 different photographers a day, in 30 second blocks of time. With over 500 local, national and international artists participating at more than 200 venues across the GTA already, ONESTOP's Digital TTC network venue increases CONTACT's audience reach by 1 million people weekly. /For further information:
