Art Auction in Germany: Rare Art by Emilio Vedova

MUNICH, GERMANY--(Marketwired - May 31, 2013) -   The ingenious mixed media work by Emilio Vedovas that will be called up at the renowned auction house Ketterer Kunst with an estimate of EUR 100.000-150.000 is kept in an expressive abstract style.

The artwork, movable on rails, is an extremely rare spatial piece in various techniques from the workgroup "Plurimi/Binari". Further details: www.kettererkunst.com/details-e.php?obnr=112002516&anummer=407.

The Venetian Emilio Vedova is largely self-taught and has a tendency towards abstraction. After a period coined by geometric works, his creation took a passionate turn to gestural informal painting. In the second half of the 1950s he explored the frontiers of painting and tried to overcome them by means of ever new experiments. For instance, he abandonded the rectangular shape of pictures in the early 1960s and he made the so-called "Plurimo-Pictures". These are foldable racks of wood and metal, executed in various techniques and with painting on all sides. They are a statement of an expressive freezing, defined by the terms "Space/Action".

Among the other auction highlights are Giorgio Morandi's "Grande natura morta con la lampada a destra", the oil painting "In der Badewanne" by Leo Putz and Hans Purrmann's "Blütenstrauß in blauer Vase" (estimates: EUR 40.000-60.000 each), as well as a work by Enzo Cucchi in two parts. The large oil painting and the color-glazed ceramics pistol will enter the race with an estimate of EUR 75.000-100.000. The range of offerings is completed by, among others, works by Gianpietro Carlesso and Arnaldo Pomodoro.

Since it was founded in 1954, Ketterer Kunst has been firmly established in the front ranks of auction houses dealing in art and rare books, with its headquarters in Munich and a branch in Hamburg. Gallery rooms in Berlin as well as representatives in Heidelberg, Düsseldorf and Modena (Italy) have contributed substantially to the company's success. In addition, exhibitions, special theme and charity auctions as well as online auctions are regular events at Ketterer Kunst.
