Art, Culture and Cinema Meet in Montreal

The Government of Canada supports the International Festival of Films on Art


MONTRÉAL, QUÉBEC--(Marketwired - March 1, 2016) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Honorable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, today announced $87,000 in funding for the 34th International Festival of Films on Art (FIFA), which will take place in Montréal from March 10 to 20, 2016.

This support, which the Government of Canada is providing through the Canadian Arts Presentation Fund, will help promote and disseminate the best worldwide productions of films on art and media arts.

  • FIFA will offer audiences films on art as well as exploratory videographic works (video art, experimental film, animation, documentaries, films and videos) created by visionary artists.
  • The 34th edition of FIFA will present 170 films from Quebec, other Canadian provinces and abroad.
  • In addition to screenings of films and videos, there will be exhibitions, master classes and performances.
  • To date, FIFA has shown more than 6,000 films from 75 countries.
