The Art Directors Guild (ADG) Announces Winners of Its 2008 Excellence in Production Design Awards

BEVERLY HILLS, CA--(Marketwire - February 15, 2009) - The Art Directors Guild (ADG) tonight announced winners of its Excellence in 2008 Production Design Awards in nine categories of film, television, commercials and music videos during black-tie ceremonies at the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. Honorary awards were presented to Production Designer Paul Sylbert for Lifetime Achievement and to iconic filmmaker George Lucas for Outstanding Contribution to Cinematic Imagery. Art Directors Guild Chairman Thomas A. Walsh presided over the awards ceremony with Bryan Cranston serving as host. Presenters for this year's awards included Richard Benjamin, Taraji P. Henson ("The Curious Case of Benjamin Button"), Ron Howard, Vincent Kartheiser ("Mad Men"), Paul Marcarelli (Verizon Wireless), Jim Parsons ("The Big Bang Theory"), Elizabeth Perkins ("Weeds"), Marisa Tomei ("The Wrestler"), Nadine Velazquez ("My Name is Earl") and Fred Willard ("Wall-E"). During its ceremony tonight ADG inducted five additional legendary Production Designers into its Hall of Fame, bringing the roster to 27. The new inductees are Ted Haworth, Joseph McMillan Johnson, Romain Johnston, John Meehan and Harold Michelson. "The Magnificent 100" -- the Guild's selection of the 100 feature films that they consider to display the best production design in theatrical films from 1898 through 2000 -- was also revealed in a special visual presentation.

ADG awards recognition always goes to the Production Designer, Art Director and Assistant Art Director of each nominated and winning project.
