"Art of Suicide" an Official Selection for 2007 Asheville Film Fest

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwire - October 23, 2007) - Independent film "Art of Suicide" has been named an official selection of the 2007 Asheville Film Festival, to be held November 8-11 at theaters around downtown Asheville.

"Art of Suicide" shows on November 9, 2:00 at The Diana Wortham Theatre. The filmmakers will be in attendance.

"Art of Suicide" is a reflective character study of a group of young artists -- a painter, an actor, a filmmaker, and a writer -- who live and chase their dreams together. The film explores the elusive nature of artistic success and examines just how far different people are willing to go to achieve it.

"We're honored to be coming to North Carolina in support of the Asheville Film Festival," says director Brent Brooks. "We believe our film contributes a unique small-town sensibility to the festival, and we're thrilled to have this platform from which to present it."

"Art of Suicide" was shot in Athens, Georgia, by a mostly Georgia-based cast and crew. The film features both the quirky small-town arts community and the groundbreaking independent music for which Athens is renowned.

"What really makes this film stand out, to me, is the resonance I've seen it has, not only with young artists, but also with anyone who might feel lost or hopeless," says Brooks.

It was inspired by the true story of The Ballroom Studios, a thriving artists' commune in Atlanta that was struck by a tragedy in 1999.
