Arts Expert Leah Selakovic Attends Singapore International Film Festival

SINGAPORE--(Marketwired - Dec 12, 2014) - Arts expert Leah Selakovic extended a warm welcome to legendary French actress, Juliette Binoche, at the Fundraising Dinner Olga Iserlis organized as part of the 25th Singapore International Festival earlier this month. The two women shared a table and a few laughs at the glamorous event, which was hosted by internationally acclaimed celebrity chef, Wolfgang Puck. Puck spoiled guests with mouthwatering delicacies in his Cut restaurant, part of Marina Bay Sands, a renowned luxury retreat in Singapore developed by Las Vegas Sands. Known as the world's most expensive building, Marina Bay Sands with its awe-inspiring views over the island state of Singapore has become a prime location for elegant dinners and other high-profile events.

The guestlist of this year's fundraiser was as spectacular as the location: Binoche and Selakovic were joined by a number of international celebrities from the filmmaking industry, amongst them Hong Kong film director, John Woo, who is known for his work in 'A Better Tomorrow' or 'Mission: Impossible II', and Chinese actress, Zhang Ziyi, who has had many international successes, amongst them through 'Rush Hour 2' and 'Memoirs of a Geisha'. Overall, 130 guests attended the glamorous dinner in support of the Singapore filmmaking scene. During a live auction held at the event, twelve exquisite items were sold off to raise money. Most notably, an autographed Remy Martin XO excellence decanter and a Cannes limited edition Chaumet watch, yielding no less than a total of $200,000.

For Binoche, who is best known for her award-winning role in 'The English Patient', the Film Festival triggered her to visit Singapore for the first time in her career. A long-time resident of the Asian metropolis, Leah Selakovic was happy to receive the French superstar in her hometown and share a few insider tips for her stay. A European native herself, Leah was born and raised in the former republic of Yugoslavia, where she started her successful career as business woman. Together with her husband, David Selakovic, Leah has lived in Singapore for many years and has become a driving force in the local philanthropy scene. Noted for her art expertise as well as for her extensive charitable efforts, she has become a regular special guest at fundraisers and benefit events around the world.

"Olga Iserlis has outdone herself yet again with organizing this wonderful dinner," Selakovic raved. "She owns and runs her own company, is a member of both the Singapore International Film Festival and the Singapore Repertory Theatre boards and yet, she finds time to organize benefits like tonight. She does not cease to amaze me and I am truly happy to contribute to her causes."

Local events and fundraisers are only a small part of Leah Selakovic's philanthropic work: Through her art and fashion blog she has been actively promoting young artists around the globe, with a special focus on women. "It does not matter whether you look at visual arts, music or film, women are still underrepresented in the arts, which seems to be a global phenomenon. My blog gives me a chance to reach out to female talents across borders and offer my advice, support and input to foster their careers." To read her fascinating stories, visit Leah's blog at
