Arts Training in Alberta Receives Funding

BANFF, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Feb. 26, 2015) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Banff Centre is receiving $3,900,000 in funding through the Canada Arts Training Fund (CATF). This contribution will enable The Banff Centre to provide arts training of the highest calibre to our future cultural leaders.

Blake Richards, Member of Parliament (Wild Rose), made this announcement today on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

• The Banff Centre, founded in 1933, provides more than $3 million in scholarships and financial assistance every year and offers training for pre-professionals and professionals in performing, literary, new media and visual arts.
• This funding will support The Banff Centre over two years: $1,950,000 for 2015-2016 and $1,950,000 for 2016-2017.
• The Canada Arts Training Fund supports more than 35 training institutions that prepare Canadian artists for professional national and international artistic careers.
• The CATF awarded a total of $22,750,000 in funding in 2014-2015.
