Aruba Builds a Better Wireless Network for Clancy & Theys Construction Company

Network Features Wireless Mesh for Outbuildings, Secure Remote Access for Off-Site Construction Trailers

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - June 9, 2008) - Aruba Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARUN), a global leader in wireless LANs and secure unified mobility solutions, today announced that Clancy & Theys Construction Company is deploying a state-of-the-art Wi-Fi network at its Raleigh, North Carolina corporate facility, providing secure access to outbuildings and remote construction trailers located throughout its service area. With revenue exceeding $500 million, Clancy & Theys Construction Company is the 63rd largest U.S. construction manager at-risk, and among the top 250 general contractors worldwide. After outgrowing its legacy wireless network, and finding its remote construction trailer VPN network too expensive and difficult to manage, Clancy & Theys Construction Company turned to Aruba and integrator Abacus Solutions to provide solutions for its headquarters, outbuildings, and constructions trailers.

"Our legacy wireless network was difficult to manage, restricted roaming, and lacked client-to-core security," said Kendyl Peebles, Clancy & Theys Construction Company's IT/IS Director. "Additionally, administrative overhead and client maintenance issues made us wholly dissatisfied with using VPNs to stay in contact with our fleet of construction trailers. Aruba and Abacus resolved all of these issues by providing a low-maintenance, highly secure wireless LAN for our corporate facility, wireless mesh networking for our outbuildings, and client-free Remote Access Point (RAP) technology for servicing the trailers. We can literally mail a RAP to our site manager, and once he or she plugs it into a DSL modem the RAP will, on its own, establish a secure tunnel to our data center and enforce the corporate security policies. No on-site configuration, clients, or IT assistance is required."

Aruba's unified mobility solutions securely deliver wireless access to users by integrating adaptive wireless LANs, identity-based security, remote access, and vendor-neutral network management into a cohesive, high-performance system. Aruba's Adaptive Radio Management (ARM) technology automates common network set-up and maintenance tasks, and continuously optimizes network performance -- including resilient mesh networking -- to support data, toll-quality voice, and streaming video applications. Aruba's Remote Access Point technology is a perfect solution for securely networking remote sites and road warriors, and does away with the client management and administrative burdens typical of VPNs.

"Construction companies are continuously changing the composition of their networks to accommodate the dynamics of new projects and construction sites," said Keerti Melkote, Aruba's co-founder and head of products and partnerships. "Automated optimization of wireless LAN performance and simple yet secure remote site connectivity are musts. Aruba's unified mobility platform does away with the need to integrate multiple appliances to deliver these services, and instead offers one common platform into which mesh and remote access software applications can be loaded. The resulting solution is easier to set up, simpler to manage, scalable to handle future requirements, and even consumes much less energy than competing multi-appliance solutions."
