As California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) Scores Are Released, Revolution K12 Introduces CAHSEE 380 to Help 10th Grade Students Achieve Higher Scores

SANTA MONICA, CA--(Marketwire - May 20, 2010) - Last week California schools began to receive scores from the California High School Exit Examination (CAHSEE) administered to 10th graders in March. This week, Revolution K12, the leading provider of CAHSEE e-learning software, unveiled CAHSEE 380 (www.revolutionk12.com/CAHSEE380), a program designed to help more students pass and score "proficient" on the CAHSEE.

Revolution K12 is one of only three companies approved by the California Department of Education to provide CAHSEE Intervention Software to help 11th and 12th graders who did not pass the graduation requirement on their first attempt. Based on the success of the intervention program, there has been a growing desire among educators to start early and increase 10th grade students' chances of scoring passing and "proficient" on their first attempt. This desire is reinforced by state and federal pressure: each year, schools must increase the percentage of students with "proficient" scores of 380 or higher on the CAHSEE in order to make "Adequate Yearly Progress," a key measure of success under No Child Left Behind.

As a result, Revolution K12 launched CAHSEE 380 to help 10th grade students prepare for the CAHSEE. The new software was built with extensive input from educators statewide, and is a powerful tool for teachers working to bring diverse groups of students up to a common standard of proficiency. Revolution co-founder Ramit Varma explains "the tool is prescriptive and diagnostic, so it can determine where a student is having difficulty and immediately give instruction and additional practice at a deep level." Schools implement the program during the school day with 10th graders enrolled in an extra Math or English period. The CAHSEE 380 program includes a new Writing Applications tool that helps students learn to outline, draft, and revise essays. It offers powerful tools for teachers, too, helping craft lesson plans that target their class's precise needs.

Revolution K12, a division of Revolution Prep, provides web-based, adaptive learning software that helps students succeed in Algebra, on state exams, and on the SAT and ACT. Its state-approved CAHSEE Intervention software is used at over 1000 sites throughout California, has been selected consistently by the state's largest districts, and has produced significant student gains.
