As Consumers Favour Better Value Over Cutting Back on Number of Holidays, Send My Bag Warns Them Not to Fall for High Baggage Fees

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwired - Nov. 1, 2013) - According to the ABTA Travel Trends Report 2013, Britons would prefer to cut back on other leisure activities, eating out and purchasing electronic goods before reducing the number of holidays they take. The 2.5 per cent increase in Air Passenger Duty introduced in April of this year and the ongoing rise in fuel costs continue to push up prices for consumers, meaning people are looking for savings where possible. However, 39 per cent of holidaymakers polled by ABTA said they had booked a 'DIY' holiday last year and travel industry technology company Amadeus reported that 52 per cent of the 93 million passengers who travelled from the UK in 2012 used budget airlines.

It is upon booking flights separately from accommodation, particularly with such no-frills carriers, when the cost of transporting baggage can be an unexpected extra expense.
