ASCAP Announces Second Annual National Conference Dedicated to Songwriting and Composing

2007 ASCAP "I Create Music" EXPO Set for April 19-21 in Los Angeles

NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- October 10, 2006 -- Building on the extraordinary, sold-out success of this spring's ASCAP "I Create Music" EXPO -- the first and only national conference dedicated to songwriting and composing -- ASCAP announces plans to stage an even larger, more comprehensive event for music creators, April 19-21, 2007 at the Hollywood Renaissance Hotel in Los Angeles, CA.

The only conference of its kind, the ASCAP "I Create Music" EXPO covers every music genre and offers all participants in the music creation process an opportunity to join together to advance their profession.

Attendance at the 2007 ASCAP "I Create Music" EXPO is expected to top the 2006 gathering, which attracted over 1,800 songwriters, composers, lyricists, producers, publishers and other music industry professionals to a wide-ranging program of panels, workshops and networking opportunities.

"The 2007 ASCAP 'I Create Music' EXPO will again present an unmatched opportunity for the community of music creators to come together to share their experiences, know-how and passion for their life's work," said ASCAP President and Chairman and noted songwriter Marilyn Bergman, who delivered an inspiring opening address at the 2006 EXPO and will kick off the 2007 gathering.

According to a detailed survey conducted by ASCAP of both members and non-members who attended the 2006 "I Create Music" EXPO, 86 percent of members said they plan to come back again and 81 percent of non-members stated that they are likely to do the same. Most favored elements included panels/programs with accomplished songwriters, composers and producers; workshops on understanding the music business; and the array of networking opportunities.

"The music landscape is rapidly changing as new technologies provide enhanced tools to both create and distribute music," said ASCAP CEO John A. LoFrumento. "At the 2007 ASCAP 'I Create Music' EXPO, we will take a close look at the exciting future of this industry and how it benefits music creators."
