Ascentn Corporation Announces Support for 2007 Microsoft Office System and Exchange Server 2007

Enhanced Product Suite Empowers Business Process Management Users

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- January 26, 2007 -- Ascentn Corporation, a global leader in business process management system (BPMS) for Global 2000 companies, announced the availability of AgilePoint® 4.0. AgilePoint is a best-in-class BPMS solution with a visual service oriented architecture (SOA) and metadata driven dynamic framework that is tightly integrated with the 2007 Microsoft® Office® system, Microsoft Office SharePoint® Server 2007 (MOSS) and Microsoft Exchange® Server 2007. AgilePoint makes it easy for users to participate in business processes directly from their desktop using familiar Office software -- including SharePoint, InfoPath, Visio, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

Built on Microsoft's .NET framework, AgilePoint 4.0 empowers business managers to take ownership of their process management and is aimed at bridging the IT-business divide. AgilePoint focuses on continuous improvement of business processes that enable the delivery and acceleration of business agility and management of dynamic business operations. The combination of AgilePoint along with Microsoft's technologies deliver the performance, features and value that customers need to successfully achieve a complete BPM solution that spans the enterprise across all levels.

AgilePoint leverages the new Office Open XML (OOXML) format, allowing businesses to integrate their Office desktop applications with business processes as 'point-n-click' actions in Visio. It also integrates the "Ribbon" technology to enable visual BPM workflows to be created directly in Word and Excel. AgilePoint will also feature the Business Data Catalog, found in MOSS that enables a user to close a business process loop and connect to different back-office systems.

The enhanced AgilePoint integration for MOSS features dedicated BPM workflow templates, new document/form libraries and an expanded usage of the people/group list function. The AgilePoint-MOSS integration provides a new Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Web Part that provides the functionality needed for basic Business Activity Monitoring (BAM). KPIs can be configured to display green/yellow/red icons that depict whether it is in an acceptable, warning, or severe warning state.

"Process agility and innovation are crucial for today's organizations. Business processes need to be adaptable to align with ever changing customer and compliance requirements. In today's highly dynamic marketplace, a company's competitiveness comes from its ability to manage unforeseen circumstances where not all business processes can be predicted in advance. In such situations, organizations need a BPMS that can adapt to these dynamic changes and provide its business managers with a tool to perform speedy business process re-purposing that may involve ad hoc execution of on-demand run-time processes. This high impact capability has not been addressed by traditional code generation-based workflow or BPM tools. AgilePoint's metadata-driven dynamic framework makes this possible and has been used by many Global 2000 companies to address previously unsolvable scenarios. AgilePoint enables our customers to become agile and process-centric enterprises," said Jesse Shiah, president and CEO, Ascentn.

"Our customers come to us for state-of-the-art BPM solutions that help them reduce cost and mitigate risks by achieving efficiency and agility through optimization, automation and management of business workflows and policies. By working with Microsoft, we are excited by new business opportunities and confident that AgilePoint 4.0's integration with Office 2007 and Exchange 2007 will bring dynamic agility to the front office, offering significant value and enhanced functionality to our mutual customers," said Michelle Peterson, director of business development, Ascentn.

"We are thrilled with the tremendous support and excitement we are seeing from our worldwide partners in support of the business availability launch of the Office 2007, Exchange 2007 and Windows Vista™," said Allison Watson, corporate vice president, World Wide Partner Group, Microsoft. "Our partners play a vital role in the early adoption, development and delivery of Microsoft technologies. By working closely with partners like Ascentn, we are helping to provide our mutual customers with a high quality product, seamless technology integration, and improved user experience."
