- Tips on What to Think About When Choosing Car Insurance

LEEDS, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Aug. 30, 2012) - Buying car insurance need not be a complicated and difficult process. Asda Money explains how now could be the ideal time to get a better deal on your car insurance.

There are a number of things to consider before shopping around for a new policy.

One of the fundamental things to think about is the type of insurance policy that would be best for your situation. Would a basic third party insurance policy be ideal or perhaps fully comprehensive? These are just a few of the things you might need to consider.

Comprehensive car insurance

Research from Asda Money reveals that 93% of motorists have fully comprehensive car insurance (1). Comprehensive car insurance provides the same level of cover as third party, but it also provides protection should you damage your own vehicle and an accident was your fault. Once you have decided what type of insurance you would like, you can shop around for the best deal.

Third party car insurance not popular

The Asda Money research found that just 4% opted for third party, fire and theft and nearly 1% have third party only.

Third party insurance only covers injury to people or damage to their property as opposed to your own. Third party car insurance also covers people if you were involved in an accident and you were to blame. Should you be involved in an accident that was not your fault, you may need to pursue a claim from the other party's insurer.

Once you have decided what type of insurance you would like, you can shop around for the best deal. Car insurance is a legal requirement and third party insurance is the minimum level of cover that coincides with the law to drive a car on UK roads.

Asda Car Insurance offers cover from £261*.
