Asheville Vet Announces Companion Animal Supplies & Food Drive

ASHEVILLE, NC--(Marketwire - Dec 1, 2011) - Charlotte Street Animal Hospital announced that the veterinary clinic is sponsoring a food and pet supplies drive from November 15, 2011 through April 15, 2012 to benefit area companion animal rescue organizations. Each group will receive donations once per month.

Asheville veterinarian Dr. Mark Ledyard announced that the Charlotte Street Animal Hospital is sponsoring a chilly weather pet food and supplies drive for animals in need. The drive runs for five months, from November 15, 2011 to April 15, 2012.

The animal clinic will be collecting donations for six local animal rescue organizations: Animal Compassion Network, Asheville Humane Society, Brother Wolf Animal Rescue, Catman2 Cat Rescue, Meals on Wheels for Pets, and Phoenix Landing Parrot Rescue.

"These organizations make a tremendous difference for pets in our community, whether they are providing a safe home to injured or abused pets, or ensuring that pets receive nutritious meals even if their owners are temporarily unable to provide for them," said Dr. Ledyard. "As a veterinarian, I see first-hand the need for quality pet food and supplies, especially in the winter months. Whether it's a rope chew toy for an abused pet at a shelter or office supplies to keep an organization running, every little bit really makes a difference."

For each organization's specific wish list, community members may visit the Charlotte Street Animal Hospital's website,

"In order for this drive to be a success, it truly takes the entire community coming together," said Dr. Ledyard. "We've already seen a tremendous outpouring of support from local businesses and community members, and we want to thank each and every person who has already donated. The drive runs through April, so we encourage pet lovers to please be generous and remember animals that are in need each month."

Individuals may drop off donations at the animal clinic or call the clinic directly to make a donation. In addition to food and supplies, gift cards and cash are also welcome.

Dr. Ledyard and the entire veterinary team at Charlotte Street Animal Hospital are actively involved in local rescue groups, donating time, skills and supplies to these organizations.

The animal clinic provides comprehensive wellness services for companion animals, including dogs, cats, small mammals, birds and rabbits. Services include annual exams, vaccinations, emergency vet care, pain management, radiology and surgery.

The animal clinic also offers alternative medical treatments for pain management, including chiropractic care, physical rehabilitation, and pet acupuncture.
