AskAboutCollege.com Gives an Insider's View of the Real College Experience
New CampusTake Utilizes User Generated Content to Showcase Campus Life
IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - September 17, 2008) - AskAboutCollege.com, the best
resource for high school students and their parents to ask questions and
get real answers about college, has taken a leap forward in delivering the
real college experience to high school students from those who know --
current college students. The new CampusTake
section of AskAboutCollege features user generated content to give an
insider's view of the real college experience. CampusTake uses photos,
videos, links and blog entries posted by college students to showcase the
essence of their campus.
"This new addition to AskAboutCollege delves even deeper into the college
experience," said Blake Spiers, co-founder, AskAboutCollege. "Now, students
can not only ask questions about a specific university, they also can see
for themselves what campus life is like through the eyes of a current
student."
There is no better way to get a sense of campus culture than to see it
first hand. For those that cannot visit all of their prospective schools in
person, CampusTake is the perfect solution. College students can get on the
site to rant, rave and/or talk about what's happening at their campuses.
Nothing is off limits; students are encouraged to post photos and videos of
campus traditions, such as the senior fountain run at USC or the student pep squad at Loyola Marymount University.
There are currently more than 1,400 college and university profiles and
more than 25,000 answered questions available on AskAboutCollege.
CampusTake posts are linked directly to their respective AskAboutCollege
university profiles enabling users to not only find answers to their
college questions but also see what's happening at their prospective
schools.
How it Works
AskAboutCollege users simply log in to their profile, go to the CampusTake
section of the site and start uploading. It's simple and works just like
common sites such as YouTube and Facebook. Users also are encouraged to
post comments to the posts on CampusTake. It's
a highly interactive area for high school students and college students to
share their experiences and learn more about their favorite campuses. All
posts are moderated for explicit content and approved by the
AskAboutCollege staff for the high school user.
"CampusTake is really fun because I can tell thousands of high school
students about what is going on at my campus and let them know why my
school is such a great place," said Brooke Reeves, Loyola Marymount University, Class of 2009.
AskAboutCollege's campus experts answer daily questions ranging from food
and drinks to financial aid and academics to transportation and Greek life.
