Asphodel-Norwood to Receive Funding for Norwood Water Treatment Plant Project

Project approved under the Small Communities Fund

ASPHODEL-NORWOOD, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - July 21, 2015) -

Residents of Asphodel-Norwood will benefit from upgrades to the town's water treatment plant, thanks to joint funding from the Governments of Canada and Ontario through the Small Communities Fund.

Upgrades to the Township of Asphodel-Norwood's Water Treatment Plant will include the installation of a new water softening system to prevent the interference of hard water in the carbon dioxide process. In addition to helping to prevent future leaks and flooding, the new system will ensure a clean and safe drinking water supply for residents for years to come.

The $1-billion Small Communities Fund provides funding for priority public infrastructure projects that deliver on local needs. Canada and Ontario will each provide $272 million to support projects in communities across the province with fewer than 100,000 residents. This funding will help address local priorities, supporting job creation and economic growth, thus sustaining a high quality of life in small communities across Ontario for years to come.
