ASSET® and American Arium Support Next-Generation Embedded Test on Intel® Processors and Chipsets

RICHARDSON, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- March 25, 2005 -- ASSET InterTech Inc. (, an international leader in boundary-scan (IEEE 1149.1/JTAG) test and in-system programming (ISP), and American Arium ( have formed a strategic relationship to enable Intel's next-generation embedded test technology, Interconnect Built In Self Test (IBIST).

The two companies are porting ASSET's ScanWorks® JTAG test environment to American Arium's ECM-50 in-target probe platform. ScanWorks is the only JTAG test system currently supporting Intel IBIST, which Intel plans to embed into many of its chips in the future to lower the overall cost of test and more effectively validate high-speed buses such as PCI Express (PCIe), Fully Buffered DIMM (FBD), and others. American Arium of Tustin, Calif., provides in-target probe hardware and debug software for a variety of microprocessors.

ASSET's easy yet powerful ScanWorks environment is currently deployed by leading electronics companies such as Cisco, Lucent Technologies, Agilent, BAE, Hewlett-Packard, Ericsson, Raytheon, Solectron, Rockwell Collins, EMC and others.

Intel IBIST enables chip-to-chip interconnect testing and design validation of high-speed buses. Intel IBIST leverages the boundary-scan (IEEE 1149.1) specification as the hardware and software communication methodology for accessing and controlling the embedded on-chip IBIST capabilities. Intel plans to incorporate IBIST on all high-speed interfaces on the Server Chipsets and processor in the 2007 and beyond time frame. In addition, ScanWorks running on American Arium's ECM-50 platform will support IBIST on Intel's next generation DP server platform, which uses the Blackford chipset.

"As the first JTAG test environment with tools for the embedded Intel IBIST technology, we believe we are providing design and test engineers the advanced capabilities they need to quickly validate their high-speed buses and deliver their products to market on time," said Tim Caffee, ASSET's Director of Business Development. "Because of Intel's intentions to embed IBIST into many of its chips and chipsets, tools that make it easy to take advantage of the power of Intel IBIST will be critical to effective design validation and testing."

"Arium is very excited to be a part this partnership. Embedded Intel IBIST technology offers increased visibility to Intel OEMs who need to validate connectivity. This, in turn, shortens test cycles and lowers costs," stated Jeff Acampora, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at American Arium. "Customers will benefit greatly by the combined solution of these two best-of-class products."

Pricing and Availability

ScanWorks running on American Arium's ECM-50 platform is available from ASSET's direct sales force and its global network of resellers. Pricing for ScanWorks for Intel IBIST on ECM-50 is at $20,040 for a development station that supports both PCIe and FBD buses. Lower-cost run-time stations are also available for manufacturing environments.

About ASSET InterTech

ASSET InterTech, Inc. develops, markets, sells, and supports boundary-scan testability and in-system programming (ISP) products worldwide. ASSET's affordable ScanWorks® environment is easy yet powerful. It allows users to quickly and easily test semiconductors, circuit boards or entire systems during every phase of a product's life, including design, manufacturing/repair and field maintenance. The ISP capabilities of ScanWorks can be used to load software or data into programmable devices after they have been connected to a printed circuit board. The ScanWorks product family works in conjunction with a standard of the International Electronics and Electrical Engineering (IEEE) society known as the IEEE 1149.1 (JTAG) boundary-scan test specification. ASSET InterTech is located outside of Dallas, TX, at 2201 North Central Expressway, Suite 105, Richardson, TX 75080.
