AssetWorks' Customer to Be Featured in Prominent Industry Almanac

Case study to examine the role of BIM and COBie in facility management at Texas A&M University Health Science Center

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS--(Marketwire - Sept. 10, 2012) - AssetWorks, a leader in Intelligent Workplace Management(SM), today announced that Texas A&M Health Science Center (TAM HSC) will be featured in a case study in the upcoming BIM Handbook: A Guide to Building Information Modeling for Owners, Managers, Designers, Engineers and Contractors, 2nd Edition. The BIM Handbook offers design, construction and facility management professionals with useful insights into the organizational, technological and commercial influence of Building Information Modeling (BIM) on organizations. The case study, entitled "Texas A&M Health Science Center: A case study of BIM and COBie for facility management," examines the role of BIM and the Construction Operations Building Information Exchange (COBie) in the design, construction and operation of a large research facility.

An integral part of the BIM and COBie implementations at TAM HSC-and a recurring topic in the case study-was the selection and deployment of AiM™ from AssetWorks as the Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) of record for the campus. AiM is credited with providing a consistent management platform that helped improve workflow for TAM HSC, resulting in net time savings of 8.7% for work performed on the campus.

"This case study vividly illustrates how an organization has embraced the 'new normal' in facilities management," said Ken Slaughter, Senior Vice President, AssetWorks. "To drive greater efficiency and productivity, every milestone of the facilities and real estate life cycle-from design and construction to operations and maintenance to building decommissioning-must be centrally and rigorously managed. It's clear that Texas A&M Health Science Center gets that, and we're proud to have been a part of their success."

The BIM Handbook (ISBN: 978-0-470-54137-1) is published by Wiley Publications and is available for purchase at: http://www.wiley.com/WileyCDA/WileyTitle/productCd-0470541377.html.

AiM helps organizations reduce costs by promoting better oversight and utilization of facilities and real estate; eliminates management redundancies and proactively manages the workplace; ensures regulatory and fiscal compliance by providing auditable data and complete transparency to enterprise assets; and helps organizations realize their sustainability and business continuity goals.
