Associated Press Partners With VITEC Multimedia to Integrate ENPS News Production With Optibase IPTV Technology

SUNNYVALE, CA--(Marketwire - Sep 8, 2011) - ENPS, a division of The Associated Press, today announced the results of collaborative work with VITEC Multimedia to integrate its ENPS Desktop Client with Optibase IPTV technology and will demonstrate the combined system at the 2011 IBC show in Amsterdam.

By integrating their systems, these broadcast technology leaders demonstrate how broadcasters can leverage existing IP infrastructure to more effectively monitor and produce news within and between facilities. The Optibase IPTV solution enables broadcasters to cost effectively migrate traditional RF Master Antenna Television/Cable Television (MATV/CATV) systems to their existing IP infrastructure and enables ENPS clients to easily monitor live IPTV content from within ENPS.

ENPS is the world's most-installed multimedia news production system. Some 60,000 reporters, producers, writers and editors enjoy the productivity, dependability and service advantages it offers over other solutions. The seamless ENPS workflow links story planning, collaboration and composition with story production and distribution, and delivers newsroom content on-air, on-line and on mobile devices. ENPS allows users to share information and media within the newsroom or across the corporate enterprise. It provides unsurpassed scalability, an unquestionably dependable architecture and proven integration with more third party products and services than any other system.

Mike Palmer, ENPS Director of Design and Integration Strategy said, "We have selected Optibase IPTV solutions by VITEC for this integration because of their leading role in delivering high quality IPTV systems for broadcasters and their support of the MOS Protocol open standard for integrating with newsroom computer systems."

Innovative VITEC IPTV technologies are market leaders in advanced video over IP solutions for leading broadcast service providers, enterprise organizations and government agencies. VITEC products have been at the core of professional digital video solutions worldwide for more than a decade. The company's platforms leverage sophisticated technology and are fully interoperable with equipment from a wide range of technology vendors including set-top box developers, middleware software companies and network access vendors. Using VITEC's powerful Streaming and Delivery solutions, broadcasters can easily stream live and on-demand video over their IP networks to desktops, STBs and TV screens in the network environment.

"We are very pleased ENPS has chosen to work with VITEC to bring live streaming video to the journalist desktop in a manner so integrated with editorial workflow. AP ENPS is an established world leader in the development of news production systems and integrating it with Optibase technology will enable broadcasters to further leverage the benefits of both VITEC and ENPS products," said Bill Cassidy, Associate Vice President of Optibase Streaming and Delivery Sales at VITEC.
