The AIA founded in August 1974 has been able to announce, at it's first inter- industry convention held in the East end of Montreal, its evolution and the turning of an historical page by becoming the Association of Inter-Industries of Montreal. The new association was introduced by Mrs. Chantal Rouleau, Mayor of Rivière des Prairies-Pointe aux Trembles, in the presence of her colleagues, Mayors of both Montreal North and Montreal East. "The time has come where consolidating our strengths and working together have become imperative to developing the economy of our City " Mrs. Rouleau said in her speech.

At the Rennaissance Convention Centre, nearly 200 people have benefited from this day, by means of visiting the 60 exhibitors at their booths, as well as through speed networking and conferences. Generous prizes were also drawn at this eventful day. Given the success of its first edition, the organizers have taken the opportunity to announce, without delay, the second edition of the Inter Industry Convention to be held in October 2016. " To create more innovation and prosperity, we need spend more time outside of our businesses, and exchange with other business leaders " confirmed Mr. Steven Polidoro, President of the AIIM and President of Faspac Plastiks, a manufacturing company celebrating their 30 th anniversary, and operating in the Anjou Industrial Park.

The positioning of the new Association of Inter- Industries of Montreal ( AIIM ) echoes what Mrs. Sâadia Lakehal, the General Manager and initiator of the Inter Industry Convention, has heard during her one on one visits with numerous entrepreneurs in the last months. "By reaching out to business leaders in different industries, I understood the importance of doing more to answer their needs. They want to share their challenges, get to know each other, create more opportunities, and innovate collectively ", she said.

The AIIM is motivated to provide services to all the industries operating in the industrial parks in Montreal with the main objective of creating means of exchanges. Many partners and collaborators are joining forces to answer the call to put forth sustainable development and circular economic growth. A new internet platform for interaction will be available as part of the services offered in 2016

The province of Quebec has seen a third of its manufacturing operations disappear in the last few years, from some 20,000 to about 12,600 today. The AIIM wants to contribute as a driving force aiming for better productivity and better exchanges among business leaders.
