Association le Moulin de la Baie Sainte Marie Offers Programming With a Caribbean Twist

Government of Canada provides funding for the Association le Moulin de la Baie Sainte-Marie

COMEAUVILLE, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwired - May 23, 2015) - Department of Canadian Heritage

Greg Kerr, Member of Parliament (West Nova), on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages, today announced $19,380 in funding for the Association le Moulin de la Baie Sainte Marie.

In conjunction with the Federal Cultural strategy for the 2015 Pan American and Parapan American Games, the Association le Moulin de la Baie Sainte Marie added a July 9 performance to its 2015-16 programming that features Caribbean artists.

  • The Association le Moulin de la Baie Sainte Marie is the only non-profit organization that presents a series of professional performances in the Baie Sainte-Marie region in Nova Scotia.
  • The multi-year funding for 2015-16 ($11,380) and 2016-17 ($8,000) is granted through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund program, which supports organizations that put on arts festivals or seasonal presenters of professional performances, as well as their support organizations.
  • The Association le Moulin de la Baie Sainte Marie has received funding from Canadian Heritage for its annual series of performances since 2007-08.
  • Between January 2015 and December 2016, the Association le Moulin de la Baie Sainte Marie, in the rural region of Baie Sainte-Marie, will present 15 professional music (folk, popular and classical), theatre and comedy performances.
