BURLINGTON, MA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- December 21, 2006 --Astaro Corporation (www.astaro.com), a leader
in delivering powerful, easy-to-use, unified threat management (UTM)
security appliances, today announced that it was awarded honors by two
top-tier industry trade publications. The accolades mark Astaro's fourth
consecutive year of receiving industry recognition for its brand of
integrated all-in-one perimeter security products, also known as unified
threat management (UTM) solutions.
Astaro's family of Security Gateways protect computer networks from a
variety of threats including viruses, hackers, spam, spyware, phishing, and
unauthorized content.
In their annual end of year product roundup feature entitled "Leaders of
the Pack," CRN weekly magazine awarded Astaro "Best Security Appliance."
Frank J. Ohlhorst, CNE, director of CRN Labs, wrote, "Astaro's commitment
to the channel and outstanding feature set combine to promote partner
success and profitability. The Security Gateway 420 offers integrated
protection for hundreds of users at an affordable price, and partners can
expect to earn margins of up to 40 percent."
In results based on lab testing, CRN highlighted an "impressive feature
set" that proved to be "easy to manage with Astaro's included browser-based
management console, where ease of use and consistency are emphasized."
Published by CMP Technology, CRN boosts 117,000 weekly readers and since
1982 has been providing news and analysis for resellers/VARs, solution
providers and integrators since 1982.
In addition, SC Magazine awarded the Astaro Security Gateway with a "Best
of 2006" in the Firewalls category. The magazine cited Astaro as "a very
strong all-round performer." The editors "looked for enterprise features
such as VLAN support, quality of service (QoS) and VoIP, and were pleased
to see that most devices being tested provide bandwidth limit or QoS
support."
Previously in July, Astaro's Security Gateway 425 appliance received SC
Magazine's "Recommended" award and an overall rating of four stars in the
group test category of firewalls. This year's award marks the third
consecutive year the publication has honored Astaro.
SC Magazine has been a leading trade publication since 1989 and is read by
more than 55,000 IT security professionals.
The Astaro Security Gateway integrates nine, best of breed, security
applications that cover all aspects of security including network
(firewall, VPN and intrusion protection) Web security (spyware protection,
virus protection for the Web and content filtering), and e-mail security
(virus protection for e-mail, spam protection, and phishing protection).
