Astera Engineering Provides Single Source Telecommunications Services Throughout Nigeria in March's African Business Review

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - Apr 12, 2012) - In a report in African Business Review, Astera Engineering's rapid rise to become a premier turnkey provider of innovative telecom infrastructure solutions throughout Nigeria is examined.

Although the company presently operates only within Nigeria -- where it presently has 200 active sites -- it is actively planning to expand into additional countries throughout the region. For example, a General Manager is already in place in South Africa and the registration process has been completed in Kenya and Ghana.

"We are purely dedicated to telecom infrastructure. We are in what you would call the passive part, everything where you make the site ready for telecom equipment to be plugged in. We will build the site, we will power the site and we will provide security for the site. Then the active part (BTS, Antennas, MW) provided by the equipment manufacturers will be brought to site and plugged in, making the site operational and on air," says Managing Director Michel Maalouf.

Astera presently works with the major telecom clients operating in Nigeria -- Bharti Airtel of India and Etisalat of the United Arab Emirates. Its equipment vendors are Ericsson of Sweden, Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) and Huawei. Astera executed the $50 million construction of two data centres for Airtel, an IBM partner.
