Goal Is to Help Hospitals and Medical Groups Improve CAHPS Scores and Reimbursement

With a 30+ year track-record covering more than 2,500 healthcare organizations, SullivanLuallin Group has worked with many of the nation's leading hospitals, medical groups and health systems. Under this new partnership, the company will make Astute Doctor's platform of innovative interpersonal skills courses available to new and existing clients looking for ways to improve Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) and Clinician and Group Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers (CG-CAHPS) survey scores. Astute Doctor's provider education will now form a core component of SullivanLuallin Group's proprietary patient experience improvement programs.

This strategic partnership also enables Astute Doctor to expand its patient experience offering to clients, who can now take advantage of SullivanLuallin's extensive range of assessment and consulting services including patient experience surveys, mystery patient visits, and provider shadow coaching.

According to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), HCAHPS and CG-CAHPS are standardized, publicly reported surveys evaluating patients' perspectives of care received. The surveys collect data on quality care measures such as doctor communication, access to care and care coordination. Depending on the group size, the reporting of CAHPS surveys scores is required to avoid a -2% PQRS penalty in 2017. Further, survey results influence the payment of a penalty or incentive under the Medicare value-based payment modifier (VBPM). Thousands of hospitals and group practices nationwide are looking for ways to implement programs to help improve their CAHPS scores to maximize their reimbursements.
