ATCO Gas Asks Edmontonians to Clear the Way to Safety

Clear your snow and win!

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - Jan. 18, 2011) - ATCO Gas is asking Edmontonians to clear the way for their neighbours and meter readers this winter. With the tremendous amount of snow that has fallen over recent weeks, ATCO Gas and EPCOR will be recognizing customer efforts to make snowy and icy sidewalks safe with their Clear and Win contest.

"Ensuring sidewalks are clear of snow and ice makes it safer for everyone in your neighbourhood," said Bill Stephens, Vice President, Edmonton Operations, ATCO Gas. "We also hope Edmontonians will consider the safety of meter readers by keeping the pathway to their meters free of hazards."

Meter readers pass through residential yards to read gas, power and water meters so precise bills, not estimated ones, are produced. Hidden dangers under the snow – such as ice, toys, wood with embedded nails, crazy carpets, extension cords and ladders – make their job particularly challenging at this time of year.

Meter readers win when customers ensure a safe path through their yard. Edmontonians can win, too, by entering the Clear and Win contest; there are three ways to enter:

  • Clear snow and ice from walks and remove hazards from the path to the meter and a meter reader could nominate you to be eligible for our grand prize – a snowblower.
  • Get creative and film a short video about how you made it safe for your meter reader to access the power, water and gas meters at your home and post it on clearandwin.ca. The video that receives the most "likes" will win a weekend ski trip for two to the Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge.
  • Enter online at clearandwin.ca for weekly draws for ergonomic shovels. One shovel will be given away each week. Contest closes March 30, 2011.
