ATCO Gas Opens Energy-Efficient Service Centre in Okotoks

OKOTOKS, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Sept. 18, 2013) - ATCO Gas announced today the opening of a new state-of the-art and environmentally-friendly service centre in Okotoks. The new facility is also one of the few commercial buildings of its size in Alberta to feature the small-scale application of combined heat and power technology in its design and construction.

The new service centre makes use of combined heat and power technology to generate up to 25 kw/h of electricity and deliver exhaust heat to the building's boiler heating system to reduce energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. The facility's environmental footprint is further reduced through an automated irrigation system, a heating system with off-hour settings and block heaters that cycles on/off every 20 minutes during cold weather.

Located at 234 Stockton Avenue, ATCO Gas's new 14,100 sq. ft. service centre is now home to 37 employees following the relocation of 30 employees from ATCO Gas operations in Calgary. The consolidation of local operations, construction and customer service functions into one larger facility enables ATCO Gas to more effectively and efficiently respond to emergency calls involving natural gas and customer requests for new gas line installations, as well as provide construction services in Okotoks and surrounding communities.
