ATCO I-Tek Receives "Top Customer Satisfaction Award in North America Energy Industry" for Its Operation of the ATCO Gas and ATCO Electric Call Centre

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - Nov. 29, 2006) - The more than one million customers of ATCO Gas and ATCO Electric in Alberta received the highest rated call centre service in the North American energy sector last year, according to Service Quality Measurement Group Inc.

The independent research company measured and evaluated performance and customer satisfaction at more than 260 North American call centres between October and December last year.

At the Call Centre Industry Awards Summit in Toronto today, ATCO I-Tek - the company that provides call centre services to ATCO Electric and ATCO Gas - will be presented the energy sector's Service Quality Award of Excellence for "highest customer satisfaction."

"ATCO Electric is pleased our customers are receiving the best call centre service within the North American energy industry," said ATCO Electric President, Sett Policicchio. "With Alberta experiencing unprecedented growth, ATCO I-Tek has responded with a commitment to training that results in customers being satisfied with the quality service they receive."

Within three days of calling, customers were asked to rate their satisfaction with ATCO I Tek call centre staff who respond to a wide range of questions -- from power outages to gas meter readings. Based on the research, 90 per cent of customers were very or somewhat satisfied with the service.

"This recognition reflects our commitment to excellent customer service," said ATCO Gas President, Jerome Engler. "I'm very pleased that the people who work at the ATCO I-Tek call centre received this recognition, especially since this is the first time an Alberta-based company has received this award."

ATCO I-Tek delivers customer care, utility billing and information technology solutions to a diverse group of clients that operate around the world. The ATCO I-Tek call centre handles about 64,450 calls for ATCO Electric every year and about 397,600 calls for ATCO Gas.
