ATCO Pipelines Awarded Gold Status by the Canadian GHG Challenge Registry

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(CCNMatthews - April 5, 2007) - ATCO Pipelines has been recognized as a Gold Champion Level Reporter by the Canadian (GHG) Challenge Registry for the comprehensive reporting quality of the company's '2006 Action Plan for Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions'.

This ranking represents the highest level of achievement for the voluntary reporting of greenhouse gas emissions in the country and ATCO Pipelines earned this honour by surpassing the Canadian GHG Challenge Registry's most rigorous reporting standards. Since inception in 1994, only 143 companies have achieved the Gold Champion Level.

"ATCO Pipelines is genuinely concerned about climate change and is committed to action that will reduce our greenhouse gas emissions," said Bob Myles, President, ATCO Pipelines. "We are extremely proud that our efforts in this regard have been recognized by the Canadian GHG Challenge Registry for the second year in a row."

The Canadian GHG Challenge Registry is a non-profit partnership between industry and governments across Canada whose mission is to provide the means for promoting, assessing and recognizing the effectiveness of the voluntary approach to addressing climate change.

The primary objective of this Registry is to challenge both current and potential registrants from all economic sectors and geographic regions to demonstrate meaningful actions which contribute towards the reduction of Canada's greenhouse gas emissions.
