Atheros Announces the Appointment of Charles E. Harris to Its Board of Directors

SANTA CLARA, CA--(Marketwire - January 25, 2010) - Atheros Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: ATHR), a global leader in innovative technologies for wireless and wired communications, today announced that Charles E. Harris, former chief executive officer of Intellon Corporation, which was acquired by Atheros in December 2009, has joined Atheros' board of directors.

Mr. Harris served on Intellon's board of directors from 1994, as its chairman of the board from 2001 and as its chief executive officer from 2002. He is currently providing part-time services to Atheros during its integration of Intellon.

Mr. Harris has also held a variety of executive management roles including vice chairman and chief financial officer of Starwood Vacation Ownership, Inc., a subsidiary of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide, Inc., from 1997 to 2001. He has also been president and chief executive officer of Allen C. Ewing & Co., a Florida investment banking firm; chairman and chief executive officer of Mid-State Federal Savings Bank; and senior vice president and general counsel of Sun Banks, Inc. In his earlier career, Mr. Harris was engaged in the private practice of law and served as an assistant professor of law at the University of Florida.
