Atlanta Business Radio Spotlights NAWBO

Nancy Chorpenning, Darla Beggs, Joy Lutes and Jill Peck Discuss NAWBO's 40th Anniversary

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - January 28, 2015) - On January 21st, 2015, Atlanta Business Radio hosted Nancy Chorpenning of C-Suite Advisors, Darla Beggs of Abba Staffing, Jill Peck of Henderson Shapiro Peck, and Joy Lutes of NAWBO. These business leaders all have one common tie, the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO).

Chorpenning is Founder and Managing Director of Atlanta-based C-Suite Advisors, a business advisory practice. She helps advise women business owners as to what their next step should be when trying to grow or expand their business. Chorpenning served on the Board of Directors for the Atlanta Chapter of NAWBO for 6 years, and was immensely involved.

She is excited, along with Beggs, Peck, and Lutes about the 40th anniversary of NAWBO. NAWBO was started in 1975 by a group of women wanting to remove the obstacles standing in the way of women business owners thriving. They began this organization as a lobbying group, because there were actually some legal hurdles stopping them from doing what they'd like.

"If you're old enough to remember 40 years ago, and I am, women entrepreneurs had some real challenges," said Beggs. "One of the wonderful things about the NAWBO organization is that we are open to all women entrepreneurs regardless of your sector, your size, the stage of your business development. All are welcome at our table."

Darla Beggs is the President and CEO of Abba Staffing and Consulting, Abba Parking Services and MGD Management Group. Beggs was appointed to the National Board of Directors of NAWBO in 2011. Jill Peck is Vice President and COO for Henderson Shapiro Peck, a relationship-driven, award-winning marketing and business support company. Along with this, she is the president of NAWBO. Last, but not least, Joy Lutes, Director of Advocacy and Public Policy for NAWBO, spoke with us. These four women are tied together through this organization and their passion is what has caused it to thrive over the course of the past 40 years.
