Atlanta Legal Experts on Buckhead Business RadioX Hosts Veteran's Day Episode

Lawyers Lane Dennard, Cary King, Drew Early, Fred Burkey and Kelly Hundley Talk About Their Firms and Services

ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - December 12, 2014) - On November 11th, 2014, Atlanta Legal Experts host Emily Rowell and guest host Ryan McPherson welcomed a group of Atlanta legal experts on the air. Featured were Fred Burkey, Burkey Law Firm, Lane Dennard, Emory Law Volunteer Clinic for Veterans, Cary King with Jacobs & King, LLC, Drew Early, elder law attorney at Shewmaker & Shewmaker, and Kelly Hundley of Kelly Michael Hundley LLC.

Since 1994, the Burkey Law Firm has obtained verdicts and settlements valued over millions of dollars for individuals and families who have been seriously harmed by the actions of dangerous drivers or harmed due to no fault of their own.  The practice focuses on trucking accidents, car accidents and accidents caused by drunk and reckless drivers.  The Burkey Law Firm is dedicated to legal excellence and integrity while providing a voice that gives clients a fair shot at justice.

For more than 25 years, Kelly Michael Hundley has been a trusted legal advisor to businesses and executives in all manner of industry, local governments, boards, and authorities across the Metro Atlanta area, and individuals from all walks of life. Having spent time in the board room and the shop floor, Hundley understands that legal issues don't arise in a vacuum. Whether it's a lawsuit, helping a client chart a path to avoid a lawsuit, or helping a new business figure out what laws impact what it wants to do, the focus and philosophy is the same -- providing practical, effective guidance and solutions tailored to the unique circumstances of each client.

"One of the biggest misperceptions is that every legal matter can be handled within the hour timeframe of LA Law, but it's just not that way," said Hundley. "There are drags that create delays that lawyers cannot control. Dockets, for example, are overwhelming in most jurisdictions. When you tell a client it could be 18 months before you get a resolution, the blood just drains out of their face. A lot of the timing is out of the lawyers' hands."

The Emory Law Volunteer Clinic for Veterans provides pro bono legal services for veterans, assisting them and their families with disability benefit claims both before the Veterans Administration and in subsequent appellate proceedings. Lane Dennard, Adjunct Professor, Emory Law, and retired partner with King & Spalding, joined the Clinic after a distinguished career that included pro bono representation of veterans.  Prior to studying law and becoming a lawyer, he served in the Army as a Captain and Company Commander in Vietnam and was awarded the Silver Star, Air Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster.

Friends since their college days at the University of Florida, Greg Jacobs and Scott King decided to form Jacobs & King, LLC in 2010 after they recognized their practice areas were complementary and that they could be combined to help clients. Cary S. King is an Attorney and Senior Of Counsel with Jacobs & King, LLC. With over 30 years practicing law, King has a wealth of experience assisting clients with their civil and criminal litigation matters including sex crimes, family law, employment-related issues and construction litigation.

Shewmaker & Shewmaker, LLC is an Atlanta based law firm representing its clients in family law matters, state court, and military criminal and administrative matters. They also provide retirement and estate planning. Attorney Drew N. Early attended the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, NY, graduating in 1979. He served in United States Army, with XVIII ABN Corps, Second Infantry Division, Tenth Mountain Division, and Third Army. He graduated, with honors, from U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and attended the U.S. Army School of Advanced Military Studies obtaining an advanced degree in Strategic Planning. He was involved in multiple deployments, including Haiti and several to the Middle East -- Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Yemen, and the United Arab Emirates. He is admitted to a variety of courts, including the Supreme Court of the United States, the US Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, both Middle and Northern Districts of the US Courts for Georgia, and all State of Georgia courts.  He further serves as an adjunct professor at Emory University's School of Law.
